Do you know why the Copoazú is named like this?

Of all the origins of Amazonian fruit names we have analyzed, the copoazú has the largest number of variations on how it is known: cupu assu, cupuazú, chocoazú, copoazú, to name a few. All these words were born as different pronunciations of the original Tupi-Guarani, Copoasu, which means “big cocoa”.

And this name makes perfect sense, the copoazú is an Amazonian fruit belonging to the same genus as cocoa (Theobroma) and therefore shares with it strong resemblances in its fruit, shell and seeds. Because of this, in many parts of the world it is known as white cocoa or Amazonian cocoa.

If you want to discover the flavor and benefits of Copoazú, you can take it in one of our infusions or sodas.
