The jungle has been there for a long time, and for much of Colombia’s history we did not know the importance of the Amazon trees. Perhaps at the beginning of the last century we saw a part of that potential with the rubber bonanza, but today with climate change we understand its real importance. These 5.1 million square kilometers, full of trees, are an enormous green giant that when it “breathes” produces 20% of the total oxygen in the atmosphere and plays a fundamental role in the fight against CO2 emissions.
